Pastor Brad Beeman

Rev. Brad Beeman has served for nineteen years as a United Methodist pastor.  He began his pastoral career in 1992 as Program Director / Associate Pastor at First United Methodist in Everett.  He then spent five years in Sunnyside.  He was then offered the opportunity to attend The Claremont School of Theology for his Master's degree, moved to Southern California, served first at the La Tijera United Methodist Church and Center for Children, then as Minister of Family Life and Teaching at Santa Monica First United Methodist.   These last three years he has served as Senior Pastor at Auburn First United Methodist Church.   Brad graduated from seminary in 2005 and was awarded the Hoyt Hickman - Order of St. Luke Award for Liturgical Scholarship and Practice.  As he would say, his seminary experience occurred in the middle of his pastoral career rather than at the beginning, and changed his life.

Prior to his pastoral career, Brad served as National Director for Community Support for Developmental Research and Programs in Seattle.  As a private consultant he worked on a Washington DC Task Force on Drug Violence, The United Methodist Bishop's Council on Drug Abuse and Drug Violence, a traveling White House Task Force on Parenting as Prevention.  His consulting practice had him traveling throughout the country speaking and training on issues related to children and youth at risk.  His work was the focus of a CBS "For Kids Sake" Special aired in San Francisco, and he continues to seek to bring both the good news of the Gospel and the needed news of prevention to his ministry.  Churches where Brad has served have twice been awarded grants from the Calvin Institute on Worship Renewal.  He loves to create memorable experiences of worship, and believes worship needs to be a "not to be missed" weekly event in the life of the church.

As an avocation, at last count Brad had either built or was involved in building approximately one hundred and twenty log homes of all shapes and sizes.  Brad is married to Dorothy.  They have four children.  He loves the outdoors particularly kayaking, climbing, and photographing God's creation.  He loves music, writes and sings - often alongside Dorothy; loves to write, to read, to create art in a variety of forms, and loves to research how to make things better, including and particularly churches and experiences in worship.  He and his family are deeply humbled and wonderfully excited about beginning ministry at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Paul and Carrie Bland - Youth Directors

When you have two people that are passionate about working with youth it's hard to find a place where you can both do what you love.  We have been blessed to find a home here at Aldersgate UMC where we are able to work side by side.  We both grew up in the Methodist Church and have attended camps and conference retreats as youth.  We believe that Youth Ministries are an important part of the growth of the Church.  We have 12+ years of experience working with youth.  Our hope is that the youth we work with now will go on to become leaders within the church and have a strong relationship with God.

When we aren't staying up all night with the youth or out playing games we can be found reading books, playing board games or out enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest with our dog Abbey.

Carrie recently graduated from Central Washington University with a BA in Sociology.  Because of her experience in the foster care system and with being adopted, She is passionate about working with children in foster-care and adopted kids.  So part of her spare time is finding ways to help change their lives for the better.

Paul is currently attending Bellevue College and increasing his skills in his second biggest passion with Challenge Course Facilitating.  He loves playing all types of games whether it's on the computer, gaming station, board games, or out in a field running around.  He especially likes helping a group of people come together for a day and learn not only how to communicate better and solve problems, but to also have fun and learn how to step out of their comfort zones.

Wendi Brick - Administrative Assistant

Working at AUMC is such a blessing!  I thoroughly enjoy becoming better acquainted with the church members.  I am happy to utilize my organization and computer publishing skills every day.  Best of all, I am serving God and serving others.  I am honored to play a small role, behind the scenes, helping to share the gospel at AUMC.

I like to think of myself as a well-rounded protestant.  I was raised a Presbyterian in Los Angeles County and graduated from Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego with a degree in Computer Science.  I worked as a software engineer for ten years before moving to the great Northwest.  Over the years I have been a member of an American Baptist church and a Covenant church.  I switched careers to work as an administrative assistant at a Lutheran conference center.  These last eight years, I worked at Faith Lutheran Church in Redmond as the church administrator.  Now I am pleased to be employed by Methodists and attend Aldersgate United Methodist Church!

I am married to David Plowman who has attended AUMC since 1965.  Between us we have five adult children, all grown up, through college and living independently.  What a relief!  My vacation time is usually spent exploring our beautiful national and state parks.  I enjoy camping and hiking, puttering in the yard and playing games with my family.

Christian Education Coordinator

Allen Leslie - Choir and Handbell Director

I received my initial training at the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, a Bachelor of Arts in education and a K-12 Choral endorsement. I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum Development. I also have an endorsement in Administration through Seattle Pacific University.

This is my fifteenth year teaching Music and Performing Arts in Shoreline and My twenty fourth year directing music for local churches including Woodland Park UMC, St. Thomas Moore in Edmonds, Sandpoint UMC and now Aldersgate UMC.

As a former student in the Shoreline school district, I have a special affinity for this area. As an educator I’m proud to say I’ve witnessed this district deal effectively with diversity and new challenges and always come out “on top”.

I have two grown sons, Tony and Elijah Leslie. My partner of ten years, Armand Pacheco, regularly attends Aldersgate and also sings in the choir. This October my son Tony will marry his long time fiancé Julie Wooten.

I believe the arts are important in helping human beings increase their confidence and understanding of our place in the world. I strive to use the arts to develop self-esteem and self-awareness. My hope is that participants in my programs use the arts as a prism through which to view other subject matter and the world.
