Colleen Flower - Children's Education Coordinator

The Children's Education Coordinator is a perfect fit for me--I love God and kids!  In addition to learning about the Bible and making new friends, our Sunday school goals are to follow Jesus' example in our daily lives.  We talk about qualities such as hospitality, kindness, generosity, and acceptance, to name a few.  We learn to "walk the talk".  The children are so receptive--they are truly blessings.

If you are looking for a fun volunteer job, we always need teachers, assistants, and occasional "all-around" helpers.  No experience necessary.   I'm at church every Sunday-- I'm the one wearing a "Ask me about Sunday school" pin.  I'd love to chat with you!!

Why Aldersgate United Methodist Church?  From my first Sunday attending the early service, I felt so very comfortable-everyone was drinking coffee, chatting, and lots of denim.  As an adult who had never regularly attended church, I was also looking for a place to begin my faith journey.  I knew instantly I had found the relaxed church of my dreams.

On the home-front, my husband and I have two sons, plus I am a proud WSU Cougar alum and a lifelong Washingtonian!!  In my free time I like to read, follow college sports, stay connected with family and friends, hike/walk and take pilates classes.

Paul and Carrie Bland - Youth Directors

When you have two people that are passionate about working with youth it's hard to find a place where you can both do what you love.  We have been blessed to find a home here at Aldersgate UMC where we are able to work side by side.  We both grew up in the Methodist Church and have attended camps and conference retreats as youth.  We believe that Youth Ministries are an important part of the growth of the Church.  We have 12+ years of experience working with youth.  Our hope is that the youth we work with now will go on to become leaders within the church and have a strong relationship with God.

When we aren't staying up all night with the youth or out playing games we can be found reading books, playing board games or out enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest with our dog Abbey.

Carrie recently graduated from Central Washington University with a BA in Sociology.  Because of her experience in the foster care system and with being adopted, She is passionate about working with children in foster-care and adopted kids.  So part of her spare time is finding ways to help change their lives for the better.

Paul is currently attending Bellevue College and increasing his skills in his second biggest passion with Challenge Course Facilitating.  He loves playing all types of games whether it's on the computer, gaming station, board games, or out in a field running around.  He especially likes helping a group of people come together for a day and learn not only how to communicate better and solve problems, but to also have fun and learn how to step out of their comfort zones.

Allen Leslie - Choir and Handbell Director

I received my initial training at the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, a Bachelor of Arts in education and a K-12 Choral endorsement. I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum Development. I also have an endorsement in Administration through Seattle Pacific University.

This is my fifteenth year teaching Music and Performing Arts in Shoreline and My twenty fourth year directing music for local churches including Woodland Park UMC, St. Thomas Moore in Edmonds, Sandpoint UMC and now Aldersgate UMC.

As a former student in the Shoreline school district, I have a special affinity for this area. As an educator I’m proud to say I’ve witnessed this district deal effectively with diversity and new challenges and always come out “on top”.

I have two grown sons, Tony and Elijah Leslie. My partner of ten years, Armand Pacheco, regularly attends Aldersgate and also sings in the choir. This October my son Tony will marry his long time fiancé Julie Wooten.

I believe the arts are important in helping human beings increase their confidence and understanding of our place in the world. I strive to use the arts to develop self-esteem and self-awareness. My hope is that participants in my programs use the arts as a prism through which to view other subject matter and the world.

Cynthia Magoon - Connections Coordinator

Cynthia is the one with the beaming smile and pleasant personality that connects with the entire congregation, new and old members, on a regular basis.

Cynthia is a tremendous resource in finding your place in AUMC.  Whether you are a participant, leader, or just not sure, contact Cynthia...

There's a place for everyone in AUMC.

Kelli Marletto - Administrative Assistant

I am the go to person for a lot of members as well as newcomers to the church during the week days.  I am also the support person for the AUMC staff.

I appreciate how welcoming the people at AUMC have been toward my family and myself, and that people here have taken the time to get to know me as a person.  When I'm not working, I'm a Mariner's baseball fanatic and a mother to an energetic toddler, and if I ever find free time, it would be to do scrapbooking and sewing.

Nathan has many connections with local Christian Music talent and provides a venue for them to share their praises to Our Lord with the AUMC congregation.
