Everyone at Aldersgate United Methodist once walked through the doors for the first time. We remember what it’s like to be a little nervous and unsure of what to expect. Here are answers to the most common visitor questions. If you have others, please contact us.

1. Where are you located?

Aldersgate United Methodist Church

14230 SE Newport Way

Bellevue, WA 98006

(beside the Newport Library)

See Getting Here for directions, parking and public transportation information.

2. What’s the phone number?

425-746-9800

3. What are your office hours?

Monday through Fridays, 9a.m. to 3 p.m.

4. What’s the Sunday schedule?

  • 9:02 a.m.: first service and children’s Sunday School

  • 10:45 a.m.: second service and children’s Sunday School

Coffee and refreshments are offered after each service in the Friendship Hall which is located off the sanctuary through the doors opposite.

5. What do I wear?

Whatever you like; dress is casual.

6. Where do I go when I get there?

Enter through the main church doors located on the back side of the property, facing away from Newport Way. A greeter will welcome you and give you a bulletin with that week’s service information. Take a seat anywhere you like.

7. How many other people will be there?

About 75 to 150 people attend each service.

8. What do my children do?

During the service, there is Children’s Time, when they are invited to come up to the front with the pastor. Sunday school is held during first service in a room off the sanctuary, and during the second service downstairs in one of three classrooms. You may accompany them at any time.

9. Is there child care?

There is an adult-staffed nursery for toddlers. In addition, there is a cry room in the back of the sanctuary for parents to take a child and still here and see the service.

10. What is worship like?

Our 9:02 service combines different modern styles. You might hear praise songs with guitar and drums, or a traditional hymn to piano. The 10:45 service is more traditional, where you will hear our choir accompanied by piano or organ. The sermon is the same at both services.

11. Do you have communion?

Communion is served the first Sunday of the month. All are welcome to eat at God’s table. We receive by intinction—a server will give you a piece of bread that you then will dip into a cup of grape juice.

12. Where are the bathrooms?

The bathrooms are located in the hallway off the sanctuary.

13. Do you take attendance?

You will find an attendance slip in the bulletin—take a moment to write down your name and address so we can get to know you better, and your e-mail address if you’d like to receive our weekly e-mail newsletter.

14. I’ve been once or twice and want to get involved; how do I learn more?

Our website contains information on service opportunities, small groups and other ways to get involved. Church leaders will be happy to speak to you in person or by e-mail about ways to connect. And finally, Coffee with the Pastor gatherings are held approximately every other month.  Join Pastor Rody for discussion about what it means to be a member. It’s a great way to meet others, hear more about our church’s beliefs and actions, and get connected to the community.
